Kettle Bells: My New Found Love

Works the core

Works many muscle groups at one time

Develops explosive energy, and great for cardio

Does an awesome job of improving posture, which helps strengthen the body, and improves breathing.

Kettle Bell Swings happen to be my favorite, but there are a number of exercises you can do.

I actually made my own adjustable kettle bell with a bar bell, one weight with cut outs for handles, and different lb. weights for the bottom (bell) end, as is seen in the picture below.

Why is it that we are so obsessed with animal population control, but not with human population control.

You Have Got to Be Freaking Kidding Me!!!

http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/the-exchange/why-m-draining-savings-stimulate-economy-132919961.html

Did someone pay this guy to say this, or is this his way of being dryly sarcastic?

Is he really that big of a ra-tard?  Would not surprise me coming from Yahoo.

Maybe he thinks he needs to spend his money now, being that, if put into a savings account, it will be worth less later down the road.  In that case, he could always invest in stocks, that become inflated due to the devaluation of the dollar, or  gold and silver.

Also, with the coming of an even bigger housing\economic crash, the things he spent his money on are going to be a burden instead of an investment.  He could always buy at the bottom and sale at the top, then rent till the prices come back down, but that dialogue does not seem to be present in this article.

And the Douche Bag of the Week Award goes too...............

* I hope this guy falls asleep in his car, while it is running in his garage.

BOYS OF SUMMER

 Greensboro Grasshoppers

Field: New Horizon Stadium

League: A

City: Greensboro, NC

Very nice, relatively new ballpark, with a great view of down town.

Dogs for batboys, who do not hesitate to landmine the outfield like the North Korean DMZ.

Dollar beer nights, and great fireworks.

Family oriented environment.

Could use a better craft beer selection, but ballparks were meant for cheap beer consumption.

Midsized city, so after game traffic is not bad, neither is the weather because of the mid south location.

Ballpark offers premium box seating, and season tickets.

If They Only Had A Gun

I guess it is a good thing we are proposing tighter gun control laws, so that we can prevent violent attacks such as that one on the campus of Lonestar Community College; oh wait.....  Apparently this guy used a box cutter; well good luck to all the people who have to open boxes now.  Maybe they can just use their teeth instead, or at least until 14 people suffer serious wounds from being bit.  I will admit that it is easier to run from a knife than it is a bullet, but it is also not easy to hit a running target.  If only he could have sent his school psychiatrist a notebook, detailing his planned attacks, then he would have been stopped.  Wait......, I guess forewarning people, as the Colorado shooter did, about your planned attacks does not warrant further investigation, admission into a psychiatric ward, or detainment.  Maybe if he was wearing a turbine, and could be deemed a terrorist, someone would have acted more quickly.  So basically people have to create more legislation to stop events that they had the resources to prevent in the first place.  Kind of like creating the Department of Homeland Security, so that we could stop terrorist, so that we can stop another 911, when we already had the chance to "Zero Dark Thirty" Bin Laden a long time ago.  Well, I guess what ever it takes to motivate US citizens into allowing an increase in our Defense Budget, so we can give it to overpaid defense contractors.  All considered, I think it is kind of ironic that an Administration, who allowed the smuggling of illegal arms, via "Fast and Furious", is concerned over the dangers of putting guns into the wrong hands.

Gold/ Silver Investment

What do you think about gold and silver prices?  Do you think they will go down more?  I think gold is at an attractive level, but if the government issues more gold certificates then it could bring the price down.  So far, it seems like it is at its support level.  I have not really researched silver yet.   Does anyone know of any reputable dealers?  I think I am going to go by some local gold and silver dealers here in Greensboro, look at their inventory\pricing and try to gain a little knowledge.

Update:  As far as I can tell, Ashmore Rare Coins and The Gold and Silver Shop are the best places for buying silver in the Greensboro, NC area.  They are both A+ at the Better Business Bureau, and the employees are knowledgeable.  I tend to like the people at Ashmore a little more, because they just seem friendlier to me, and seem to be more willing to give you the Ins and Outs of precious metal buying,  granted they may deal with a better clientele than G&S,and have even went out of their way to show me some ways to spot fake coins.

3RD PARTY

What does everyone think about the philosophy of “voting for the lesser of 2 evils”?
Also, what are your opinions on strengthening a third party presence?  Will it provide more competition for the other two parties, and will it give the undecideds, or voters of the “lesser evil” an outlet for choosing a more qualified candidate?  Better yet, should we get rid of political parties all together?  Instead of Republicans, Democrats, and Libertarians, should they just be called simply politicians.  Then they would not have to worry about reaching across the aisle because there would not be one.

TOPIC LINKS

I am hoping to provide some links, to different sections of my blog, with the main topics consisting of Finance, Politics, and Food.  I may try to spin off the Food link, into a food review blog.  Just a heads up on what’s to come.

COME ON IN THE WATER'S FINE

Welcome to "Smorgasschlepper".  I hope you all can find something of interest here.  Also, I am up for any suggestions on how I can make this blog better; ie, topics you would like covered, format, etc.  I am going to try to go for a format that is somewhat non-traditional; as in, it will not be as professional as some blogs, in terms of language used and topics covered, but I will try to keep it as clean as possible. Hopefully a wide array of audiences can enjoy the material, but as we all know, there is no pleasing everyone. In addition, I am going to try to bring on some contributors to make things diverse, balanced, and the material more abundant.  At any rate, I hope you all enjoy, and help make this a great blog.
